Handcrafted Olive Wood Chess Set with Ornately Carved Pieces

A true showcase of patience, precision, and traditional craftsmanship, this extraordinary chess set is handcrafted from natural olive wood by skilled local artisans in Madaba, Jordan.

The board is assembled from individually cut wooden squares, carefully arranged to create a striking contrast between the warm golden wood and the rich, flowing grain of olive wood. A wide handcrafted border frames the playing surface, while the sides are decorated with intricate carved patterns that give the set the appearance of a treasured historical piece. A small metal clasp completes the elegant design.

The full set of 32 chess pieces is individually shaped and carved with remarkable attention to detail. From the crowns of the kings and queens to the distinctive knights, bishops, rooks, and pawns, every piece has its own carefully formed character. One side retains the naturally warm tones of olive wood, while the opposing side features a deep dark finish for a beautiful and easily recognizable contrast during play.

Natural knots, lines, shades, and color variations remain visible throughout the board and pieces, allowing the authentic character of the olive wood to become part of the design. No two chess sets can ever have exactly the same grain, making each one a completely unique work of functional art.

More than a traditional strategy game, this chess set is an impressive decorative centerpiece and a meaningful representation of Jordanian artistry. It is perfect for a living room, office, study, game room, or collector’s display and makes an unforgettable gift for chess players, collectors, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, retirements, Father’s Day, or anyone who appreciates exceptional handmade craftsmanship from the Holy Land.

Care instructions: Gently remove dust using a clean, soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, chemical cleaners, excessive moisture, and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Store the pieces carefully after use to help protect their carved details and polished finish.

Please note: Because this chess set is handcrafted from genuine natural wood, slight variations in grain, color, carving, and finish are expected. These are not imperfections—they are what make every set an authentic, one-of-a-kind creation.
